ROSSINI - Overture to William Tell KORNGOLD - Concerto in D major for Violin and Orchestra, op. 35 SCHUMANN - Symphony No.1 in B-flat major, op. 38 (Spring)
Europe meets the Old American Frontier as the evening opens with Rossini’s William Tell Overture. Leaving the sounds of the lone range, The Phil welcomes back violin virtuoso, Jonathan Carney, as he dazzles with Korngold’s famous violin concerto. Schumann’s first symphony evokes a sense of spring in the early fall. Is it the season of spring or a spring of love? You decide.
