GLASS - Concerto Fantasy for Two Timpanists

Opening Night of the Masterworks series is always a celebration and this concert is no exception! The evening opens with one of Bach’s most well-known works, Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. Then, percussion is front and center – literally – with Glass’ Concerto Fantasy for Two Timpanists, featuring guest timpanist, Jonathan Haas (for whom Glass wrote this piece), and The Phil’s own Principal Timpanist, Eric Schweikert. Concluding the program is Mahler’s Symphony No.4 in G Major, a musical expression of a child’s vision of heaven. *Note 6:00pm start time. An Opening Night Dinner Celebration follows the concert.
